When listing an item on eBay, a category ID is required to list.

The publisher component of the system is automatically looking for suggested categories based on current competitors on eBay.

If you find that the suggested categories are not to your liking or no categories were found and would like to change the category ID manually, simply follow this guide.

You have two options - either looking for similar competition and copying that existing item category ID or going over to eBay categories and choose the one you think suits you best.

Copying an existing listed eBay item category ID:

1. Jump over to eBay.

2. Make a search for a similar item.

3. Select and jump to one of the found items.

4. Mouse over the item category.

5. Right click on the item category and click "Copy link address", you will have a copied address that looks similar to the following: https://www.ebay.com/b/Binoculars-Telescopes/28179/bn_151912

6. Paste that address on some text input so that you can interact with it.

7. Select, extract and copy only the category ID, in our case the category ID is 28179.

8. Paste that category ID in the Publisher Category input text box.
